2026년 9월, 우드플래닛의 아트 섹션에 스페이스 톤의 네 번째 전시, 《Clay of Eidos: 추상을 위한 절대조형》의 이야기가 게재되었습니다.
도자 공예의 확정적 선입견에서 벗어나 흙을 매개로 조각의 세계로 진입하는 전시가 열린다.
전시에 참여하는 작가는 대학 도자학과 학부와 석사 과정을 마친 도예가로 김자영, 김가윤, 김지원, 류정하, 박지원, 신다인, 지은이 등 7인이다. 이들은 흙의 질료를 바탕으로 도자조형의 미술적 관점을 확장을 꾀한다.
에이도스의 사전적 정의는 존재 너머의 진실을 의미하는데 지금 우리가 살고 있는 세상 즉, 현상계는 인간의 이성에 비하면 덧없는 그림자일 뿐이고 이데아는 현상계에 가려진 뒷면인 사물의 본질이자 원형을 가리킨다. 단순히 사물의 외형적 형태가 아니라 사물의 형상이 궁극적으로 어디서 지향하고, 어떤 뜻을 품고 있는지를 말하는 고대 철학의 언어이다.
In September 2026, a feature on Space Tone’s fourth exhibition, 《Clay of Eidos: Absolute Form for Abstraction》, was published in the Art section of Woodplanet.
An exhibition opens that moves beyond fixed preconceptions of ceramic craft and enters the realm of sculpture through clay as its medium.
The seven participating artists—Jayoung Kim, Kayun Kim, Jiwon Kim, Jeongha Ryu, Jiwon Park, Dain Shin, and Eun-i Ji—are ceramic artists who completed undergraduate and graduate studies in ceramics. Working from the materiality of clay, they seek to expand the artistic possibilities and perspectives of ceramic form.
The dictionary definition of Eidos refers to a truth beyond existence. The world in which we live—the phenomenal world—is merely a fleeting shadow when compared with human reason, while the Idea refers to the essence and archetype of things concealed behind appearances. Rather than simply describing the outward form of an object, Eidos is a term from ancient philosophy that asks what form ultimately strives toward and what meaning it contains.
